So a paper was posted last week entitled “Second Booster Vaccine and Covid-19 Mortality in Adults 60 to 100 Years Old”. This is actually a preprint which means it has not yet undergone peer review (which is often a load of crap anyway) and it will be interesting to see if it actually gets published as a peer-reviewed article. If it does, you will of course see it plastered all over the mainstream media (it may be already) telling you this is proof that number 4 will do the trick. Sure we said that about numbers two and three, but this time we mean it. The conclusion of the authors of this study is (my caps) “This study demonstrates a SUBSTANTIAL REDUCTION in Covid-19 mortality by the second-booster in eligible subjects.” Well that seems reassuring, everybody get in line.
But let’s take a look at a very telling graph from this study.
This graph depicts the risk of death for those who got the first booster vs. those who got the second booster. Looks pretty convincing, no? Case closed, number four it is! But let’s dig just a little bit.
First, this is a study on old people – mean age about 73. So if you’re below age 60 this really has no application to your life. Second, the authors state “Our study demonstrates that among the older adult population that had received a first booster dose at least four months earlier, mortality due to Covid-19 during the omicron surge was SIGNIFICANTLY LOWER among those who had received an additional booster dose.” But what do the numbers actually say? Let’s see what the actual difference in COVID death rates were between the group that had only one booster vs. the group that got a second booster – those who saw a “SIGNIFICANTLY LOWER” mortality.
Ages 60-69: 0.02%
Ages 70-79: 0.04%
Ages 80-100: 0.3%
To flesh these numbers out a little, what they mean is, if you are between the ages of 60 and 69 for instance, and you got the “additional booster dose” your chances of dying were about 0.004%, whereas the odds for those who only had the one booster (third shot) were 0.025%. So the difference, the “improvement” of your chances of not dying from COVID increased about 0.02%, or two one-hundredths of one percent (0.004-0.025=0.021). If you were 95, you increased your “protection” by a whopping three-tenths of one percent (0.3%). If those numbers float your boat, by all means, the line forms to the right. These numbers by the way have been consistent between the two groups since the very beginning. The actual difference in your chances of dying if vaxxed vs. unvaxxed are infinitesimal. That’s a mathematical fact. But wait, there’s more.
If we take a closer look at the graph above, we see a divergence of deaths between the two groups at around day 8. Unfortunately for the true believers, it is physically impossible for the vaccine to have such an effect. Remember we’ve been told repeatedly and IN NO UNCERTAIN TERMS that it takes two weeks for the vaccine to become fully effective (whatever exactly “fully effective” means these days). It also takes on average about a month or more from infection for someone to die from COVID. So even if those who didn’t get the second booster got infected on the first day of the study, chances are you wouldn’t start to see their deaths for at least a month. So there is no possible way the divergence in deaths per group can be attributed to the vaccine. Other things like age and being religiously orthodox seem to play a larger roll in this study; but details, details. The differences are probably due to several other things, but one of them ain’t the vaccine beyond some tiny benefit.
It’ll be interesting to see if this gets promoted as “proof” that a second booster “works”. Time will tell. Hey, remember when Fauci said "I don’t think anybody would argue that OPTIMAL PROTECTION is going to be with a THIRD SHOT,” and "Fauci’s comments came the same day that Pfizer and BioNTech released the results of a laboratory study that showed a BOOSTER SHOT WILL 'NEUTRALIZE THE OMICRON VARIANT' which Fauci called “very encouraging news.”? Good times... Remember this when Fauci or Biden or some talking head is telling you how they “know” the fourth shot will do the trick. Of course, Pfizer has dividends to pay. So there's that.
