So as we know, time heals all wounds; but maybe in this case we should keep this wound open…forever.
If you’re wondering how this possibly became a thing back in November of 2021 (hat tip bad cattitude on substack),
or that this was some kind of one-off; that this was just the isolated rantings of a crazy person, and that nobody else could possibly agree with such sentiment, you have already been gaslighted. I wrote several times on the dangers of this kind of “othering” and how it could lead to very, very bad things. Fortunately, and perhaps by the grace of God, we avoided the ultimate insane endpoint of this kind of thinking. But don’t kid yourself, I am quite certain that you know people who secretly agreed with, or came very close to it, with this sentiment.
But if you’re wondering how we could have possibly gotten to this point; how our friends and neighbors, even perhaps our own family members could have POSSIBLY embraced this type of thinking, I present for your perusal our government overlords, our medical "experts" and their acolytes in the mainstream media (hat tip Alex Berenson).
The great writer and philosopher G.K. Chesterton wrote about this sort of thing 100 years ago:
“Suppose that a great commotion arises in the street about something, let us say a lamp-post, which many influential persons desire to pull down. A grey-clad monk, who is the spirit of the Middle Ages, is approached upon the matter, and begins to say, in the arid manner of the Schoolmen, "Let us first of all consider, my brethren, the value of Light. If Light be in itself good--" At this point he is somewhat excusably knocked down. All the people make a rush for the lamp-post, the lamp-post is down in ten minutes, and they go about congratulating each other on their unmediaeval practicality. But as things go on they do not work out so easily. Some people have pulled the lamp-post down because they wanted the electric light; some because they wanted old iron; some because they wanted darkness, because their deeds were evil. Some thought it not enough of a lamp-post, some too much; some acted because they wanted to smash municipal machinery; some because they wanted to smash something. And there is war in the night, no man knowing whom he strikes. So, gradually and inevitably, to-day, to-morrow, or the next day, there comes back the conviction that the monk was right after all, and that all depends on what is the philosophy of Light. Only what we might have discussed under the gas-lamp, we now must discuss in the dark.”
Here, “unmediaeval” equals “science” and "the value of Light" equals "freedom". Some people pushed the COVID narrative because they were scared, some because they actually believed they "knew" something, some because they were fascists at heart; ALL because they were illiterate and innumerate. Remember all the “smart” people and "experts" berating us with what they “knew”, which turned out to be absolutely nothing (there was just ANOTHER report published showing masks did essentially nothing, so there’s that). We came REAL close to “war in the night”. Much closer than most would like to acknowledge. And now as we look back we see that all the liars and idiots were…well, liars and idiots. Every single one of them. And the results of our letting them control us are no less than the shredding of the very fabric of our society. Think back, if you can, to Christmas of 2019. That world is gone forever. By the way, have you heard ANYBODY in this video, or anywhere else for that matter, acknowledge they were wrong and apologize for their actions? No? Didn't think so.
I realize we all want to move on from this long nightmare but I implore you to not forget what we just went through. Pretty much every single decision made or action taken by our medical “experts” and government overlords was not only wrong, but diametric to what was actually true and correct; and let me suggest that that kind of track record does not come about by random chance. And they were aided in their propaganda campaign by their willing morons in the mainstream media (a hallmark, by the way, of a totalitarian government). Just watch the video above. I dare you.
The lesson of the last three years is absolutely that it is your life and you should start acting like it.
