So we had about a three week respite from “The Science” as we all focused on Putin, but now Anthony Fauci is back with more good news and new lies. In an interview with the BBC on Sunday, when asked whether the lockdowns “were worth it, or too severe,” Fauci answered (my caps) “You know, I don’t think we’re EVER GOING TO DETERMINE what the right balance is. I think the RESTRICTIONS, if you want to use that word, which I tend to shy away from, lockdowns CERTAINLY PREVENTED a lot of infections, a lot of hospitalizations, and prevented a lot of deaths,” he claimed, adding, “There’s NO DOUBT about that.” Ah Tony, we surely missed you. Couple things.
First, WHAT? You shut down the country, in fact the world, you destroyed entire economies, significantly damaged billions of lives, and unraveled the very fabric of our society…and you DON’T KNOW “what the right balance” is? And you don’t like using the word “RESTRICTIONS”? What exactly would you call barring people from working, worshipping, or even walking in the park or going to the beach? What EXACTLY? And let’s see, where have we heard Tony tell us before that there is “NO DOUBT” about that? Masks? Vaccines? It’s getting old, no?
Of course, there are more than 30 papers published, some from well more than a year ago, showing that there was essentially NO reduction in deaths attributed to the lockdowns. So there’s that. And the UN predicts perhaps as many as 1,00,0000 children will have starved to death due DIRECTLY to the restrictions, uh sorry, (insert-nicer-word-here) you imposed, even though you don’t really know what "benefit" they provided. So a million children starve to death, but hey, at least Grandma is safe…We don’t really care about little brown kids on the other side of the planet anyway, right? And, “The U.N. report on children also said 188 countries have imposed countrywide school closures, affecting more than 1.5 BILLION CHILDREN…‘The POTENTIAL LOSSES that may accrue in learning for today’s young generation, and for the development of their human capital, are HARD TO FATHOM,’ it said.” We’re gonna “FATHOM” in years to come just what we have done to our kids. Good times.
Second, actually we DO have a pretty good idea how little these lockdowns benefited society, Tony. Although the data stream is so awfully polluted that it’s really hard to be confident in any of the numbers, you can look at states that locked down hard vs. those that essentially never did any kind of mitigations, or countries that never did (there’s that pesky Sweden again), and see no appreciable difference in COVID metrics.
Fauci actually says out loud “Obviously when you do have that kind of restriction on society there are unintended negative consequences, PARTICULARLY IN CHILDREN who are not allowed to go to school, in the psychological and mental health aspects it has on children, in the economic stress that it puts on society in general, on individual families, obviously those are negative consequences that are unintended…” but what the hell, who really cares, because then Fauci's good news: “Elsewhere in the interview, the NIAID Director also advised people should be READY TO GO INTO LOCKDOWN MODE in the event of a new Covid-19 outbreak.”
So Fauci admits we really don’t know how much harm vs. how much benefit the lockdowns had, but then lies that there is “NO DOUBT” they proved beneficial (how can you possibly have "NO DOUBT" when you just said we'll never know the "right balance"?), then acknowledged the unfathomable damage we’ve done to our children (that would seem to cast some doubt), and then that we should be ready to do it again. Sweet. Welcome back tiny fellow, we missed you.
If we allow this lying sac of crap and his cabal of ne’er-do-wells to control us again, we deserve EXACTLY what we get. EXACTLY.
