Yoga literally means “to yoke” or to unite the body, mind and spirit. It is not simply a form of exercise. Yoga is an ancient philosophy which originated in India thousands of years ago -- a philosophy that you can apply to your daily life today. The great lessons that are learned on your yoga mat can be taken with you and used to improve and enhance your life.
There are many benefits to a yoga practice. Among them are:
• Strengthening and balancing the nervous system and glandular system
• Increasing your flexibility (both physical and mental!)
• Creating both physical and mental relaxation
• Relieving stress and fatigue
• Plus so much more…
Practicing yoga will help you feel healthy, happy and whole. You are not required to be in ”perfect” physical shape to do yoga. It is easily adaptable to everyone’s needs. Props and modifications are used to help your body get in and out of poses (asanas).
Risa’s class is a basic Hatha Flow which gracefully links breath with movement. It will allow you the opportunity to feel the connection of mind, body and spirit. It is a nurturing environment where you can feel safe to discover your true potential.
Bring a mat, if you have one. If not, we have some mats available.
Beginners are welcome!
