Texas Says "Hold My Beer"

4/25/21

So you remember it was almost two months ago (March 3rd) when the governors of Texas and Mississippi announced they would be “reopening” their states with no restrictions. No mask mandates, no limits on occupancies for business, nothing. Just getting back to life the way their constituents saw fit. At the time you will also no doubt remember the “experts” who run our lives telling us what a grave mistake this was. You had Joe Biden famously saying that this move was “Neanderthal thinking” and "I think it's a big mistake. Look, I hope everybody realizes by now that masks make a big difference.” In an article reporting on this suicide mission and the President’s sincere concern, NBC “News” reported “The governors' decision came just one day after the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention warned that relaxing the guidelines could cause cases to trend upward again.” All you heard was how everyone in Texas and Mississippi was going to die.

And then of course you had Lord Fauci chiming in with “Dr. Anthony Fauci said it’s far too early for states to begin lifting mask-wearing orders, as the governors of Texas and Mississippi did this week, in “premature” declarations of victory over the coronavirus pandemic that will likely lead to another surge of new coronavirus cases.” He then warned that cases in those two states had plateaued and “That’s a dangerous sign because when that has happened in the past, when you pull back on measures of public health, invariably you’ve seen a surge back up,”.

First, masks make almost no difference at all, so Joe Biden is either a liar or an idiot. If you read my post “A Mask Moratorium” form March 8th you will know that the CDC published a paper on March 5th saying that at most, at the absolute best, masks showed a 1.8% decrease in cases. Now if old Joe thinks 1.8% is big, more power to him. Fauci’s warning of another “surge” was as correct as his warnings for Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year’s Eve when you were told you could not celebrate with your friends or families lest we all die (again). I easily debunked that nonsense with, you know, math in my post “Just To Put A Bow On It” of December 31st. There were no surges. Period. And Fauci has talked about this nonsense of plateaus and subsequent surges before – all of it provable lies. Fauci also said “…the only safe way to pull back public health measures is to wait until the level of community spread drops to “remarkably low” figures.” “Remarkably low”??? What exactly does that mean?

OK, fast forward to April 6th, about a month after the Neanderthals opened up. We see this exchange “Yet when MSNBC’s Willie Geist confronted Fauci on ‘Morning Joe’ about Texas’s apparent success on Tuesday, the infectious diseases expert made a dire prediction. ‘It can be confusing, because you may see a lag and a delay because often you have to wait a few weeks before you see the effect of what you’re doing right now,’ Fauci said.” That’s a lie. Referring back to the holiday “surges” we were being told not only did we know there was a surge after Thanksgiving just three weeks later, and we were told the same thing not long after Christmas. Why no lag or delay then but now there is? Fauci added "I’m not really quite sure," he added. "It could be they’re doing things outdoors ... You just have to see in the long-range." That’s just sad. That’s the best he could come up with? He’s slipping…

For the record, on April 6th the case rates had steadily declined in Texas and Mississippi during the previous month by about 57% and 61% respectively. And since Fauci’s last lies, I mean “expert” opinions of April 6th, the case rates have inched up in Texas by a whopping 4.5% and in Mississippi, the rate has dropped an additional 11%. By the way, in case you’re interested, the case rate in the US over the “Neanderthal Time” has dropped about 9%. So there’s that. And of course, in Michigan, where the governor has her subjects, I mean constituents, under some of the most onerous restrictions in the country, the daily case rate had skyrocketed from March 3rd to April 6th by almost 400% and has now come down to only a 300% increase since March 3rd. How do you explain that?

Anyway, just more evidence that the dictocrats in charge of your life have no bleeping idea what they’re talking about. If you want to keep following their advice, you do you. As for me I’ll stick with the actual SCIENCE AND DATA.
