Idiot or Liar?

COVID PANIC PORN ALERT

2/15/21

IS ANTHONY FAUCI AN IDIOT OR A LIAR?

Wow, that’s a pretty incendiary opener. And while many are probably already calling me names, just hold your water and read on please.

So as I open the computer to my MSN homepage this morning (not my usual homepage of “Conspiracies-r-us”), I see an article entitled “Dr. Fauci Warns This ‘Nightmare Scenario’ May Happen” Uh-oh, we’re all doomed…again. The author of the article tells us that “Despite coronavirus cases dropping, and vaccines being distributed, we are racing against these mutants.” (MUTANTS! I HATE MUTANTS!) And then this direct quote: “‘January and December were the two worst months we've had in the entire year,’ said Dr. Fauci, looking back. ‘And the number of cases were between 300 and 400,000 per day. The number of deaths were between 3 and 4,000 per day…’” That’s what he said, exactly. But let’s take a look at those pesky little things called facts.

First some housekeeping. The following data is drawn from worldometers.info whom I refer to all the time because their data is easily communicated. If anyone thinks I use fudged data from Fox News or QAnon, as of this writing (approximately 11am on 2/15/21) worldometers.info has US cases at 28,262,355 and US deaths at 497,175 while Johns Hopkins (the “official” source) counts US cases at 27,641,389 and US deaths at 485,338. Worldometers.info is consistently slightly ahead of Hopkins. We all good? Good. So here are the actual numbers, what some might even call the SCIENCE AND DATA.

US Cases:

12/1/20            14,191,257

2/1/21              26,925,771

If you can execute three of the four basic math functions (even I can do that), you come up with 12,734,514 additional cases between 12/1 and 2/1 (that’s subtraction). There are 62 days in December and January (that’s addition) and if you average the additional daily cases (12,734,514) by the total number of days in December and January (62) you come up with a daily case count of 205,395 (that’s division). That’s a far cry from “between 300 and 400,000” per day. And although it should not need to be said at this point, a positive test does not a “case” make.

 US Deaths:

12/1/20            279,986

2/1/21              460,001

If you perform the same very complicated “analysis” for US daily deaths, you come up with 2,903 deaths per day.

And to be completely fair and transparent, if you break the numbers down by individual months you get 211,374,677 cases per day and 2,652 deaths per day for December and 192,058,774 and 3,155 for January so there is a tiny thread of factual truth (January deaths, barely) in what Fauci said, but that is clearly not what he is transmitting in the quote above.

So you can see EXACTLY what Fauci said above and what the ACTUAL data is. I’m not going to engage in arguments with anyone about how those numbers are still terrible – nobody said they weren’t. My question is – why the lying? He exaggerated cases by 50% to more than 100% and he exaggerated deaths by as much as 50%. Why?

It seems to me you have two choices. Either Anthony Fauci is an idiot or a liar. Now he’s apparently not an idiot. He’s a very accomplished man and an excellent autocrat and he seems to be intelligent and as an intelligent man (certainly a man in his position) he must obviously be aware of the current data, right? So if you get your hackles up at the suggestion that the sainted Dr. Fauci may be an idiot (and just who the hell do I think I am calling the great and powerful Dr. Anthony Fauci an idiot?), then you are left with him being a liar. Again, as a non-idiot man he must be aware of the actual SCIENCE AND DATA as to the real case and death numbers (intelligent people can do basic math – even me), so then you’re left with the conclusion that he knows the actual data but lies to the American people about it (can you say “the need for masks” and “vaccines numbers for herd immunity?). There is no other choice. If he’s not an idiot, he must be a liar. My question is why?

Now you may give Lord Fauci the benefit of the doubt and say he’s lying to us “for our own good”, maybe to scare us into doing what he “knows” is best for us. You know, for people like me who don’t “follow the science”. Maybe, if that’s your cup of tea (which I believe for many is the case). I personally (and I bet I’m not the only one) would prefer to be respected as an adult, as (allegedly) a free American citizen and not treated as a child who’s too dumb to understand really complex concepts like mathifacation. But whatever your “excuse” might be, that still makes him a liar. If your spouse cheats on you, then lies to you about it when asked, does the explanation “I just lied to you for your own good, you know, to protect your feelings.” make it OK? And this is the guy who, when asked how people “can” act (thanks for the permission daddy) after they get their two vaccine shots, said “What about two people who are fully vaccinated? What kind of activity can they have? Do they still need to wear masks around each other? Can they hug? Can I have my daughter come down from Boston, who I haven't seen in a very long time? Can I sit down and have a dinner with her without worrying about spreading infection? Can I give her a big hug the way I'd like to? I think the answer ultimately will likely be yes to that, but I think we'll wait to see what the recommendations show.” If any of that sounds remotely sane to you then you probably stopped reading this post after the subtitle. Can I hug my child? Can I have dinner with my child? REALLY? But for those of us who see the inherent insanity and stupidity in Fauci’s comments, maybe it’s past time to start looking at Fauci just a little bit differently because of, you know, science.
