FAUCI IS A HYPOCRITE
LANE DEPARTURE WARNING!!
Heads up. For those who think I should just stay in my lane, I’m about to not only get out of my lane but I’ll be riding the shoulder and probably heading down the embankment. So fair warning that if you’re one of those people who is made “furious” by someone presenting actual facts and positions that run counter to the popular narrative concerning COVID, I am about to show in several short posts that Anthony Fauci is a hypocrite, dishonest, something of a bully, and a cowardly dictocrat. If denigrating your golden calf will upset you, then you should probably look away now. If on the other hand you are someone who is open to things like facts, then please join me as we explore the wonderful world of Dr. Anthony Fauci. In case you haven’t heard, he’s the director of the U.S. National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases and the chief medical advisor to the President! That obviously makes him very important. He’s also something of a matinee idol who has appeared on the covers of several magazines including a style magazine and has said, humbly of course, about himself “With all due modesty, I think I’m pretty effective.” Well isn’t that special? (shout out Church Lady)
So let’s address Fauci’s hypocrisy first. In his now famous back and forth with Senator Rand Paul from March 18th we see the following exchange. In case you didn’t know, Senator Paul is a medical doctor but he’s just an ophthalmologist who also has no business leaving his lane and questioning the great and good Lord Farquaad (ha – now you can’t get that image out of your head). In case you weren’t aware of that fact, the Washington Post tells you so with their headline “‘Here we go again with the theater’: Fauci pushes back on Rand Paul’s amateur epidemiology — again” But I guess Paul is, like me, just too dumb to realize he’s out of his depth, so question Fauci he does. All capitalizations following are mine for emphasis.
Paul: “WHAT STUDIES DO YOU HAVE that people that have had the vaccine or have had the infection are spreading the infection? If we’re not spreading the infection, isn’t it [wearing two masks, or even one mask] just theater?”
Fauci: “Here we go again with the theater. Let’s get down to the facts. Okay? The studies that you quote…look at IN VITRO EXAMINATION of memory immunity, which in their paper, they specifically say, this DOES NOT NECESSARILY PERTAIN to the actual protection. It’s in vitro…”
So Fauci here is making the argument that the studies cited by Paul are what are called “mechanistic studies”. That is, they are studies that show a particular result in the laboratory but those results may not necessarily translate to any real world effect (in this case protection through immunity for the public). And he is absolutely correct. These are mechanistic studies and they may very well not translate to the real world.
The problem is, EVERY SINGLE laboratory study you have been told “proves” masks work has been a mechanistic study. Whether it’s one of the cool laser-light experiments we’ve all seen, or putting a mask over an exhaust pipe to show reduction in particulate flow or the ridiculous “study” of putting two masks on a dummy (appropriate) that has led to everyone (including Fauci) now wearing two masks, they’re all mechanistic studies done in a laboratory. The ONLY reason Fauci is wearing two masks is because of this nonsensical study. But Fauci is telling you we “know” masks work. He says it right in this testimony “Well, let me just state for the record that masks are not theater. Masks are protective…” So do you see the hypocrisy? You cannot use argument “X” (saying those are mechanistic studies so they don’t count) to negate your opponent’s position, but then say that the same exact argument “X” (those are mechanistic studies so they don’t count) is not valid against your position, that is in fact predicated on the same exact type of data (mechanistic studies).
You only have two choices here, follow me:
1 – MECHANISTIC STUDIES COUNT. If this is the case, Fauci’s attack on Paul’s evidence is wrong. This would mean Paul’s studies of established immunity after infection or vaccination would be valid justification for his position that masks are not needed for those people and that Fauci’s insistence that they are needed is in fact just for theater and Fauci is lying to the American people (as he knows from the data provided by Paul that the masks are unnecessary for those previously infected or vaccinated). In this scenario, the fact that Fauci’s two mask (or even one mask) mechanistic studies would also be valid becomes irrelevant as those previously infected or vaccinated wouldn’t need masks anyway because they are immune.
2 – MECHANISTIC STUDIES DON’T COUNT. If this is the case, Fauci’s attack on Paul’s evidence is correct and evidence of immunity from mechanistic studies is invalid. But this would also mean that Fauci’s two mask (or even one mask) position, which is also based on mechanistic studies, is equally invalid. This would mean that Fauci’s insistence that masks are not just for theater and that masks are effective is, in fact, just for theater and Fauci is lying to the American people (as he knows that the “evidence” of two mask effectiveness, or even one mask effectiveness is from mechanistic studies which he said himself are invalid).
I pointed this out once before in a post appropriately entitled “Hypocrisy” on December 4th where another “expert” does this same thing. This sort of thing has become known in the age of COVID government overreach as the “It’s good for thee but not for me.” phenomenon. To argue for a particular position when it suits you but against that same position when that suits you is hypocritical and it is dishonest. There is no way out of this argument. Fauci is a hypocrite. Your only way out of this would be to say that Fauci doesn’t recognize that his data is also mechanistic and so doesn’t realize his attack on Paul is in fact an attack on himself. But that would make him an idiot. Your choice.
By the way, if you still think I’m out of my lane, the World Health Organization states in their own pandemic guidelines published in October of 2019, just before the world went to hell, referring to face masks (bracketed comments mine) “Although there is NO EVIDENCE that this is effective in reducing transmission [that means in the real world], there is MECHANISTIC PLAUSIBILITY [that means from the laboratory] for the POTENTIAL EFFECTIVENESS of this measure.” Even the WHO (and the CDC) admits there is NO REAL WORLD EVIDENCE THAT MASKS DO ANYTHING, but they’re hopeful they might do something because of what they saw in the lab. This information has been well established for years and EVERYONE, including Fauci, knows this.
Anthony Fauci is a hypocrite, plain and simple. Mechanistic evidence is either good or bad depending on what he needs it to be. That is the very definition of hypocrisy.
Next time we’ll look at how Anthony Fauci lies. I’ve already done one post on this, but he lies so much, it takes a second post to catalogue it all. Now, back to my lane.
