CORONAVIRUS – A POSITIVE TEST IS NOT A “CASE”
First some housekeeping. For those of you who get angry with people like me whom you believe are commenting on things you believe I have no expertise in, and that I should just “stay in my lane”, I would submit to you that I have posted some 40 commentaries on this COVID pandemic over the past year and I have always provided the hard data to support my positions as to what is really happening in this country and around the world. This as opposed to the PANIC PORN purveyors who constantly suffocate us with predictions and models of the horrors that await us if we don’t do what we’re told, with these prognostications proving incorrect time and again, yet never to be held accountable. As such, you might want to ask yourself why posts like mine make you so angry. Perhaps it is because the actual facts conflict with a worldview you have built for yourself in your unfailing worship of the likes of the autocrat Anthony Fauci, and this makes you uncomfortable. As I have said before that while it’s true that I am not a virologist or immunologist or epidemiologist, it is equally true that I am not hysterical, politically or financially motivated, crazy, or stupid. And while you protest that you are not living in fear, the fact is that of course you are. You are by the very definition of the word. The only reason any person takes any “precaution” against anything (in this case wearing two masks, quarantining your own children before they are allowed in the house when they come home from college, washing your mail, getting vaccinated, etc.) is because of a perceived threat and a fear of a negative consequence that might arise if they did not take said precaution (in this case contracting a virus that has a far less than a one-half of one percent chance of harming you). You can dress it up any way you’d like by saying you’re “following the science” if that makes you feel better, but the fact is, you are afraid. And it’s OK to be afraid, but it is intellectually dishonest to deny that you are and to lash out at others who are not. And that’s all I have to say about that. (shout out Forrest Gump) On to the topic at hand.
So there has been lots of talk about this over the last year and if you’ve been reading my posts at all you know I have stated repeatedly that a positive test does not a “case” make. This is really important because we have all been deluged with what is actually a “casedemic” (shout out Ivor Cummins) and not a real “pandemic” and the number of “cases” has been used to scare people into doing things and acting in ways that are not justified. Everybody thinks they “know” there are some 30,000,000 cases in the U.S. but that figure is made out of whole cloth for two reasons:
One, as stated, a positive test is not a case. If a woman tests positive for the Human Papillomavirus (HPV), she is not counted as a cervical cancer case. If a man tests positive for the Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV) he is not counted as an AIDS case. But for the “novel” coronavirus we not only count, but we ANNOUNCE every positive test as another “case”. This, in turn, exaggerates the reality of the situation. I wonder why.
Second, the number of Americans actually infected with this coronavirus is much higher than the official number. Depending on which metrics you use, the number of infected Americans could be as high as 150,000,000. In Japan and India, where they did antibody testing (why didn’t we do this?) they showed a more than 50% positive rate. And that doesn’t count T-cell immunities. Why is this important? Because a true accounting (or even an honest estimate) of infections would significantly lower the case fatality rate, bringing it more in line with the seasonal flu, and therefore make the thought of contracting the virus much less scary. I wonder why that would be a problem.
And by the way, Kary Mullis, an American biochemist who literally invented the PCR test (for which he was awarded the Nobel Prize in Chemistry in 1993) has said: “PCR is… it’s just a process that’s used to make a whole lotta somethin’ out of somethin’. That’s what it is…it doesn’t tell you that you’re sick and it doesn’t tell you that the thing you ended up with really was gonna hurt you or anything like that.”
Stop listening to the “experts”. From 15 days to flatten the curve to the “VARIANTS” ARE COMING…if you listen closely, according to the experts, this thing will never end. Living one’s life in fear of dying is not living. But that’s just me. You do you. Now back to my lane.
